I Want This Dress!
Marie Claire Nov '10 editorial

Oh I covet this dress. I need to figure out how to make this. It would be perfect for the Edwardian Ball in Jan. I am obviously drawn to fitted, full-length black and collar...

...but the one in the first photo is so flowy and gorgeous. I must get started this weekend! I have a garment construction class this Sat (and the following two Sat) and I hope they add to my skills so I can make this dress!!

Such an amazing dress, such an amazing neckline!

The fabulous vintage blog Couture Allure always has so much information about posted images:

"At the National University of Mexico, a black Taj silk cocktail sheath with a side-slashed neckline. Sold for $65.00 in 1960 (about $478.00 in today's dollar)...Luis Estevez was a genius at designing unusual necklines. In fact, he became known as the "Neckline King" in the trade.

To learn more about Luis Estevez, visit David Patrick Columbia's New York Social Diary post about Estevez, which includes a reprint of a biographical article from Santa Barbara magazine and lots more photos of gorgeous Estevez dresses.

All photos by William Ward for a multi-page advertisement that appeared in Harper's Bazaar, 1960."

Giambattista Valli silk-velvet jacquard bolero with grosgrain-ribbon trim and matching sleeveless dress. Suzanne Couture Millinery cap with netting. Fred Leighton earrings. LaCrasia gloves.

Oh my goodness. I don't love this ensemble, I am in love with this ensemble. My heart aches for burgundy-colored silk velvet jacquard fabric.

Another thank you TLo's blog for posting this beautiful photo and for Sarah Jessica for wearing it so well.

Eye Candy, Wants

Reading my blogs this morning, I came across some pretty that I want to remember...

Louboutin boots, 2009, image grabbed from http://projectrungay.blogspot.com/

Wow, those are truly some boots! How I would love to walk into a show with those on! They are probably twice my monthly rent!!

Jane Irwill sweaters from 1955, image grabbed from http://www.coutureallure.blogspot.com/

I want the green sweater and skirt. I love the collar and the skirt is perfection. Sweaters are usually shapeless on, but this one has such a pleasing fit.
