Frankie lives with his friends Anne and Greg. I went over to their place for drinks Sat night and was able to stay for hours and play with Frankie the dog! The reason this is so unusual is that since my infancy, I've been violently allergic to dogs - my lungs immediately start to react, making it difficult to breathe, and it continues to worsen hours after the exposure. My last visit to an emergency room was years ago, but that's because I avoid the animals. It's really all animals that send my lungs to a bad place, but dogs hit me particularly hard(as do bunnies). Until now...
Almost two days later, I can feel a twinge of oppressive heaviness, but nothing like it would be "normally". At a party about a month ago, I spent some time with a dog whose name I can't remember with about the same affect. I just assumed it was a special sort of dog. Then there was Frankie! Oh he's so sweet! Hanging out successfully with another dog confirms my allergies are tons and tons better. Doctors said there was a chance I'd grow out of it, but I didn't think I'd ever actually improve.
Because each exposure can actually do damage, I won't be getting a dog of course, but at least once in a while I can play with a dog, something I've never had a chance to do before. That and the sunshine is really making my week!!!!
Oh my what an adorable pooch! I'm glad you aren't as allergic anymore. I don't know what I would do if I was allergic to cats or dogs. Cry a lot, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteIsn't he fab? He's part Boxer and part Poodle...a Pooxer? A Boxoddle? Sadly I've been feeling the lung oppression this week, but it's still a huge improvement!
