I just got back from Palo Alto where I heard Amy speak and demo some crafts from her new book Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People. She is so amazingly funny, sweet, and energetic and holy cow she can talk fast. Anyone else would have taken 2 hours to say what she did in a little over an hour.
She was wearing an amazing blue, 50s-style dress that her costume designer-friend made for her - the same person who made all the costumes in her book. Update! I've been informed the costumer is Mary Adams, who has a new book coming out The Party Dress Book.
She said in the Q&A that her favorite craft in the book is the stars made from marshmallows and toothpicks covered in glitter.
She talked a bit too about her famous cheese balls and how with the expense of cheese these days, she only makes them by special request. I found this great video of Amy on the Paula's Home Cooking show making her cheese balls...very informative, get out your pen and paper for the recipe.
I am so inspired! I want to stay up and make something!! And thanks to Raven for coming with and driving!!
